Some wines demand decanting. The 2017 vintage of Rancho Pequeño Vineyard does just that.—Initially demure, even muted—then, within an hour, the music plays triumphantly. Fragrant aromas of jasmine, cigar box and incense blossom from the glass, signaling its arrival. On the palate, a slow build of red cherry, black currants and cassis dance in silky tannins with a lingering finish.
