Cabernet Sauvignon№3 — 2017

Rancho Pequeño Vineyard

Oakville

Napa Valley

ASHES & DIAMONDS’ Cabernet Sauvignon “Rancho Pequeño Vineyard” is a kaleidoscope of aromatics. The expression of this Oakville vineyard, comprised of alluvial loam soil with little to no irrigation, is heightened by the Araujo family’s commitment to environmental stewardship and biodynamic farming.

Some wines demand decanting. The 2017 vintage of Rancho Pequeño Vineyard does just that.—Initially demure, even muted—then, within an hour, the music plays triumphantly. Fragrant aromas of jasmine, cigar box and incense blossom from the glass, signaling its arrival. On the palate, a slow build of red cherry, black currants and cassis dance in silky tannins with a lingering finish. Its metamorphosis between sips signals a wine of great complexity and drama with a majestic advent. (Tasting Notes, 11/20/23)
